Eating things from a list raw foods is not common practice, and most people might not be willing to even try. But eating some foods raw are more beneficial to the body, instead of eating them cooked or processed. Vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, etc. are more potent when the food they come with are consumed uncooked. No wonder people who eat raw food are typically more energized than whose who consume more cooked food.
Plus, the energy that comes from eating items from a list of raw foods is unlike the energy that comes from, say, drinking coffee or energy drinks. When you drink a cup of coffee or a bottle of energy drink, you feel a surge of energy for a time and then it dies down, and you feel more exhausted than before. When you’re running on energy that comes from eating raw food, it’s more lasting and more sustaining. You can work out more and you won’t feel the need for naps. You can even function well on only 4-5 hours of sleep!
How is this possible, you ask? There are several factors. One of them are enzymes—something that is a requisite for every reaction in the human body: running, walking, writing, standing, sitting, metabolism, etc. However, our bodies do not have an infinite number of enzymes and when they run out, we feel lifeless and drained. Not many people are aware that when foods are heated above 118 degrees Fahrenheit, the enzymes that are naturally in the food are destroyed.
What that means is that when a person’s diet is dominated by cooked food, he’s not getting as much enzymes as he should, and therefore his body compensates by using its own to metabolize the food he eats. The energy that would otherwise be used by the body for other activities, it uses for metabolism. Your body feels more tired as a result. Metabolism is slowed as well, since the body has a harder time breaking down the cooked foods. Eating more items from a list of raw foods can have a big effect on a person’s energy level and speed of metabolism.
Not only does a raw food diet do wonders in boosting your energy level, it helps you lose weight more easily and also helps your skin become healthier and more beautiful. Eating foods raw means that you are eating the life force that is packed into them, which is why they’re also known as “living foods.” Ingesting the nutrients crammed into raw foods makes you feel satiated and well-hydrated, so your cravings are curbed. Your metabolism improves, too, because the enzymes help break down the food you eat more quickly.
There are plenty of people who have failed in dieting and have difficulty losing weight. But people who never thought they could lose weight have done so by keeping to a predominantly raw food diet – which, incidentally, is probably one of the safest and healthiest ways to lose weight too.
